5 Free Mental Health Coloring Pages

There are a lot of mental health coloring pages available online. Like A LOT! However, I noticed a significant lack of coloring pages providing depth on mental health concepts. Many of the options I found were grainy images, only designed for mindful coloring, or were behind a paywall. I hand sketched these coloring pages on Canva. My goal is for these to feel more personal (aka. not AI generated) and provide food for thought. Each coloring page is themed after a different mental health concept, and I will explain each briefly below.
You will find downloadable links to five Free Mental Health Coloring Pages. I designed these for people’s personal use, use in therapy sessions, or group therapy settings. Feel free to share these images with anyone who could use them. Please do not use them for personal profit. Sending these your way. With love.
P.S. If you like these, please let me know in the comments. I would love to make more.
Coloring page number one focuses on the concept of your Locus of Control. Essentially, what is in your control and what is not. Often people try to hold onto responsibility for things that belong to others such as their actions or reactions. Maybe we were taught this was our responsibility. I designed this image to show a mind filled with a bunch of things that are out of your control and are not your responsibility. The goal is for this page to bring you some reflection on what you might be holding that is not yours to hold.

Coloring page number two focuses on a quote I heard in group therapy that really stuck with me. It teaches us there is love available to us, and our feelings of being unloved may stem from our beliefs about ourself. I created this visual to show how we filter the available love through the lenses of our childhood experiences and adult trauma. These two shape how we see our selves and how open we are to receiving love. My hope for this page is to give you space to ponder how your past experiences and trauma shape your current experience of love.

Coloring page number three focuses on types of therapy. About a year ago in my therapy journey, I was stumped by the fact I felt I was getting nowhere with regular talk therapy. I did a Google search and discovered Psychology Today’s extensive list of therapies for mental health. While this list was super overwhelming, it also provided me a measure of hope. I had only ever heard of talk therapy. No one had told me I had so many options to explore. It made experience with talk therapy feel less like a dead end and more like the beginning of my adventure into therapy. I have typed a smaller list of therapy types onto the books on this page’s bookshelf. The goal is to provide you some space to reflect on what types of therapy you have tried and the hope that exists in not being stuck with only one option.

Coloring page number four focuses on emotions. In various therapies, I have encountered the feelings wheel. I will link one here as well. This wheel helps you identify that there are more accurate description words to convey how you feel. It helps you explain your interior experience better than just saying “sad” or “angry.” We really do feel deeply as human beings. The coloring page shows different root vegetables with emotions and a range from least intense to most intense listed beside them.

Coloring page number five focuses on neutral affirmations. For the longest time, I had only ever heard of positive affirmations. And, positive affirmations felt gross and not realistic for me to try and embrace. However, through scrolling on Pinterest, I discovered Neutral Affirmations. They are kinda like the middle ground of affirmations. I find these still push me a little bit, but they are way more digestible. This coloring page is themed after a house with a neutral color and vibe. Feel free to color it however you like while reflecting on the neutral affirmations in the frames.

Enjoy! Happy coloring!
