Would You Like A Compliment?

The feeling you get when someone compliments you out of the blue… it’s amazing. A compliment sends a shiver of warmth all over you. For those of us with low self-confidence, it can be awkward and hard to accept, but it is still appreciated.
I was thinking about how cliche our typical compliments start to get. You have: “Your hair looks nice today”, “cute shoes”, “I like your shirt”, ect. You could say these compliments to anyone, but the best feeling compliments are more specific to you. For example, “The hamloaf you made for dinner was delicious” or “Your gallery wall is so well put together.” These would hit so much closer to home and therefore have a deeper impact.
When thinking of a friend I wanted to compliment, I started to think about chai tea. This friend has such a bright personality. They are a joy to be around. There is such a depth to their caring soul. It just felt right to compare them to a cup of chai.
This got me thinking about reframing compliments. What if we handed out metaphors as compliments? Maybe the compliments would hold greater impact and linger longer. Maybe they would serve to make your corner of the world a brighter place. So, I have crafted ten such metaphors for you and I to start with. Sending these with love.
